Update Your Kids’ Soundtrack

The soundtrack of your home is reflected in the songs your children sing.  And that soundtrack impacts your community.

We begin our meals with a Psalm and a prayer.  We began this tradition after seeing a video of a family dinner with Pastor Douglas Wilson.  First they sang the Doxology and then they prayed to bless the meal.   Like the Wilsons, we started with the Doxology and then quickly moved on to other hymns.

Consequently, our children sing Psalms and hymns all the time.  It’s the soundtrack of their lives.  While I had a great childhood and great parents, the soundtrack of my childhood was probably Billy Joel—because that’s what my parents listened to.  “Only the Good Die Young” doesn’t have the same spiritual impact as “Blessed the Man that Fears Jehovah.”

Fill your children’s lives with the Psalms through Reformed worship.  If you’re interested in updating the soundtrack of your home, send us a note at reformingemporia@gmail.com.  Let’s bring Reformed worship to Emporia.  It will change the tone of your home, and it will change the tone of our community.
